2015 ICTSI Wack Wack Ladies Invitational: Meechai eyes back-to-back at LPGT Wack Wack
Wichanee Meechai hopes to redisplay the form that netted her a record 15-shot romp at Splendido three weeks ago as she guns for a second straight win on the ICTSI Ladies Philippine Golf Tour in the ICTSI Wack Wack Ladies Invitational beginning tomorrow (Tuesday) at Wack Wack’s West course.
Meechai put on a three-day display of shotmaking and superb putting to outclass the field at Splendido but the Thai ace expects a strong fightback from the field, including local aces out to redeem themselves and defend their turf.
Cyna Rodriguez, the back-to-back LPGT Order of Merit champion, is out to atone for her seventh place finish at Splendido along with leg winner Jayvie Agojo, former SEA Games gold medalist Chihiro Ikeda, Anya Tanpinco, Lovelynn Guioguio and Sarah Ababa, the best placed Filipina at third at Splendido.
Meechai will also be facing a slew of fellow Thais in her attempt to nail a second crown in the circuit that has continued to draw foreign players, including Walailak Satarak, Saraporn Chamchoi, Mookharin Ladgratok, Supakchaya Pattaranakrueang, Pennapa Pulsawath, Hathaikarn Wongwaikijphaisal and Tiranan Yoopan.
Amolkan Phalajivin, who stopped Rodriguez’s run and won the Splendido leg last year but struggled to finish tied for 11th this year, is also in the fold, along with Christina Corpus of the US, Sarah Henderson of England, Shareen Lai of Singapore and Koreans Yeji Oh and Kim So Un.
Other local bets seeing action in the 54-hole tournament sponsored by ICTSI and organized by Pilipinas Golf Tournaments, Inc., are club bet Heidi Chua, Lina De Guzman, Lucy Landicho, Barsy Leonen, Eva Miñoza, Majorie Pulumbarit, Jan Punzalan and Tracy Que.
After Wack Wack, the country’s first ladies pro circuit will go to Riviera for the ICTSI Rivieral Ladies Classic on May 27-29 before Sherwood hosts the fifth leg on June 16-18 for the ICTSI Sherwood Ladies Championship.
